The Kosta Boda vase with model number LH 1843 , designed by Vicke Lindstrand , is a beautiful example of the Sommerso technique in glassblowing. This particular model is characterized by a color gradient from amber at the base, via green, to a hint of blue at the top. The vase has a height of approximately 28 cm and is signed "Kosta LH 1843".

The Sommerso technique, Italian for "immersed", involves encapsulating a coloured glass layer in clear glass, creating a sense of depth and rich colour gradations. Lindstrand has masterfully applied this technique, giving the vase a dynamic colour spectrum and an elegant design.

Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) was a leading Swedish glass designer known for his innovative designs and techniques. His collaboration with Kosta Glasbruk (now Kosta Boda) resulted in numerous iconic pieces, including this vase. His work is characterized by fluid forms and a refined use of color, which is clearly visible in the LH 1843 vase.

This piece is not only a functional vase, but also an art object that embodies the essence of mid-century Scandinavian design. It is a valuable addition for both collectors and lovers of high-quality glass art.
