The light blue 'Fungus' vase, designed by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta Boda in 1951, is a striking example of Scandinavian glass design. This hand-blown crystal vase is characterised by an organically twisted top, reminiscent of the shape of a mushroom, hence the name 'Fungus'. The vase is signed 'LH 1121 HD 51' and bears the etched 'Lindstrand-Kosta' stamp.
Vicke Lindstrand (1904–1983) was a leading Swedish glass artist and designer, known for his innovative approach to glass design. His career included collaborations with renowned glass factories such as Orrefors and Kosta Boda. At Kosta Boda, where he worked from 1950, he introduced modern designs and techniques that have had a lasting impact on the glass industry.
The 'Fungus' vase is a representative example of Lindstrand's ability to translate natural forms into elegant and functional art objects. The light blue crystal and the unique shape make this vase a sought-after collector's item for lovers of mid-century Scandinavian design.
